Editor’s Introduction

Brian Burgess, Editor The educational facilities within the fast changing fabric of Doncaster are a positive reminder to everybody of how far the Borough has progressed in a relatively short time. That development continues day by day, breathing fresh hope and vitality, through a new awareness, into sections of the community previously untouched.
Doncaster now has not only the largest but possibly the best new education and training initiative in the country, a remarkable achievement and a blueprint for others to emulate and follow.
What has been achieved is a lasting tribute to the army of dedicated visionaries who passionately believed in raising and nurturing the educational potential, capabilities and aspirations of the local communities. A process they deemed so necessary, discovering and applying peoples potential, and simply vital for the economic survival in today’s fast changing technological world.
The people of Doncaster may feel justly proud of their new image, as conveyed to visitors and the world generally.
We as a Company are proud to be associated in some small way with Doncaster.

Helen Chant, PublisherWelcome to this, our third edition, of Doncaster ETY. Since we first published this Guide, we have witnessed the regeneration and evolvement of education and learning in Doncaster, that has provided a pathway to new opportunities, training, career and job prospects; and ultimately a better way of life.
During this time, it has been our privilege to have met some of the people who have played a part in helping this vision become a reality. We met with some of them recently to attempt to discover who or what has influenced their own lives. We hope you will enjoy meeting some of them within these pages, and that their lives and the stories that they recount will be a source of inspiration to you too.
Once again, I would like to take this opportunity to thank the sponsors, advertisers, contributors and colleagues who have continued to support this publication, and without whom, it would not be possible.
