2005
into 2006 has been a fantastic time for progressing our
vision for Doncaster and we have made significant strides
in achieving the plans we have set out for the Borough.
The phenomenal success of Robin Hood airport in its first year, combined
with the opening of the Frenchgate Interchange is the culmination of
a lot of work to make Doncaster even more accessible and attractive for
residents, visitors and businesses.
The developments are not just about changing the way that Doncaster looks
but also about offering the people of Doncaster the first class opportunities
that they deserve. Education is vital to this. Standards in Doncaster
have been improving year on year recently and our GSCE results are now
at their best yet. The opening of Doncaster Education City on the newly
redeveloped waterfront campus in September 2006 will continue to put
education at the forefront in the town.
Whether as a parent of a young child, a teenager looking where their
next steps will be or as an adult wanting to learn something new, there
has never been a better time to be concentrating on education. This really
is the time to grasp all the opportunities that Doncaster has to offer
