Doncaster
students ”
Get That Grade”!
This has been another excellent year for Doncaster schools.
There have been improvements in each Key Stage and a greater
number of young people than ever before have achieved the
national standard of 5 A*-C at GCSE.

status in Engineering is a reflection on the
outstanding success enjoyed by the school over
the years. |
|
For six years we have
seen year-on-year improvements in attainment in our primary
schools. This test success
is set in a context of a highly enjoyable curriculum.
Children leave school at 11 well fitted to take up
the challenges of secondary education.
Building on these firm foundations, our secondary schools
this year, made an improvement of 7.2% A*-C at GCSE.
An amazing achievement!
Our secondary curriculum has been enriched by many
new courses. Young people are now achieving qualifications
in ICT, media studies and engineering – all very
relevant to the future economy of Doncaster.
“
Get that Grade” has proved a great success. It
seeks the greater involvement of parents. Not in doing
the school work, but in making sure it is done and
that course work files are in on time. During public
examinations,
parents and carers are encouraged to: get her up, get
her on the bus and get her there on time! The drive
has also underlined the need for students to have a
meal
before exams and to take water with then to keep the
brain alert.
It seems to be a trait in our national media, to say
exams are easier today. They are not. Our schools,
teachers and children are working harder, working smarter,
to
achieve better grades. If you get a chance, say “Well
done!”
