Keen2Learn - Making education a family business
Father and son partnership Alistair and Stuart Owens certainly practice what they preach. Their new educational website www.keen2learn.co.uk promotes the value of parents working with children at home, to complement work done in school.

Keen2Learn

Over the last year Alistair and Stuart have worked together at home, creating a website that not only gives parents the opportunity to buy a range of educational products selected by teachers, it also provides useful information and links, so that parents can keep up to date with educational news and trends.
Research in the USA shows the significant benefits of parental involvement – the website covers all key stages of the national curriculum and really does provide a one stop shop of products, for parents wanting to give their child extra practical help at home.
Alistair said: “Our website offers over 1,000 products – a number and range that is expanding all the time. We have, we hope, something for every child of every age and ability.”
“ We really do want to help parents understand that they have a very positive role to play in helping their children overcome any gaps in understanding and barriers to learning that they might have. The confidence they can help build in their child really does support and complement the work done at school. Most of all we want the time spent on this to be fun for everyone.”
The team at keen2learn have been listening to teachers and parents and updating the website accordingly. New additions since the January launch include special needs, gifted and talented and sports and fitness sections.
Stuart acknowledges the support Doncaster Chamber and Business Link have given:
“ keen2learn as a web site and resource is always evolving. The help from Chamber has given us the opportunity to fund specialist help, targeting areas such a PR and marketing as well as offering us a wealth of focused workshops and seminars to attend.”
“ Business Link has complemented this pro active support with business advice and grant funding that has enabled us to secure the best help to make our business plan work in the real world.
