Yorkshire Sculpture ParkYorkshire Sculpture Park
Yorkshire Sculpture Park is an extraordinary place that sets out to challenge, inspire, inform and delight. Within 500 acres of 18th century parkland, it is an international centre for modern and contemporary art, experienced by thousands of visitors each year, including students and members of the public of all ages and abilities who are engaged in the YSP education and community programme.
YSP Education aims to promote the knowledge, understanding and enjoyment of sculpture to a diverse community. It is committed to open access and supports lifelong learning and culturally diverse initiatives, providing opportunities for access to the arts for all.

Yorkshire Sculpture ParkArtist-led Activities
Led by experienced artists-in-education, YSP Education activities provide an enhanced experience for visiting pupils and students. From a general introduction to sculpture to a tailored activity to meet individual group interests, YSP activities are suitable for groups of all ages and abilities.
Activities can focus on aspects of the outdoor collection; e.g. the Access Sculpture Trail or the Henry Moore Collection in the Country Park; alternatively they can involve an exploration of temporary exhibitions both outdoors and in the indoor galleries. Visits could explore the use of different materials and techniques, particular movements and styles of sculpture, or the relationships between art and landscape.
Artist-led work can also be used to complement units from the QCA Schemes of Work for Art & Design and provide ideas and inspiration for follow-up work in school or community settings.

Workshop Days
Workshop days are tailored to the needs and interests of individual groups and can focus on particular exhibitions or explore themes or topics of interest to the group. Workshops can also be cross-curricular to include literacy, numeracy, science and other subject areas.
A workshop day is divided into two sessions:
Morning: tour of some of the works on display enables the development of ideas, knowledge and understanding.
Afternoon: practical session on the outdoor Education site, with participants working in small groups to create individual or collaborative sculpture and artwork.
All tools/materials are provided.

Guided Tours
The guided tour will introduce groups to aspects of modern and contemporary sculpture. Averaging an hour and a half, they can focus on particular themes and explore the outdoor collection or temporary exhibitions. Guided tours are suitable for all levels, from pre-school to university.
We also offer inset-training days, study days and skills based Sculpture Courses. For further information on any of our activities, or if you wish to discuss a visit to YSP, please contact the Education Department on 01924 830642.
Please note that all artist-led activities are dependent on availability.

Group Visits to Yorkshire Sculpture Park
Yorkshire Sculpture Park welcomes and encourages group visits, from walking groups to school parties. Educational groups can be supported by YSP information and teaching resources generated by YSP artists, allowing teachers and group leaders to guide their students in an exploration of art and nature. Visiting YSP is free, however we do require that groups pre-book with the Education department.
