Introductions Elaine McHale
It
is my absolute pleasure to introduce this edition of
the Education and Training Yearbook for Wakefield & District.
As the Corporate Director of Family Services for Wakefield
Council, I am in the privileged position of having the
responsibility for the co-ordination of services across
the generations. This brings with it, challenges and
opportunities in helping individuals, families and communities
to maximise their potential. There are many ways in which
individuals and families may achieve and attain success
in their lives, and this last year we have seen some
stunning results by students at schools and colleges
in Wakefield. Also, adults have attained excellent qualifications
through Adult Education.
But with the continuing development of children’s
centres and extended schools, we will be able to reach
out to more individuals, in the anticipation of inspiring
them to take up opportunities for learning, and to benefit
from Wakefield’s successful regeneration programme.
This yearbook tells you something of all these areas
and what they have to contribute, so no matter what your
interest, academic, vocational or work based, there is
something in Wakefield for you.
