ASPIRE to fitness

The Sport & Recreation Unit of Wakefield Metropolitan District Council launched a regular users membership card in June 2005, for customers at Lightwaves Leisure Centre and Thornes Park Athletic Stadium.

The ASPIRE Sport and Leisure scheme enables customers to participate in swimming, gym, fitness classes, and sauna and steam sessions, and a monthly subscription of £25.
All three facilities house state of the art gym facilities with friendly, qualified staff to offer advice and assistance. Lightwaves Leisure Centre and Thornes Park Athletic Stadium run a comprehensive fitness programme, with classes ranging from Aerobiking, Boxercise, Circuit Training, Body Tone, Aerobics, Step and many more. All this is available for only £25 per month.
The Aspire Leisure Scheme is now available at Knottingley Sports Centre, Castleford Swimming Pool, Featherstone Swimming Pool, Minsthorpe Swimming Pool, Normanton Jubilee Swimming Pool and Pontefract Swimming Pool.
Customers will benefit from unlimited swimming, gym and fitness sessions across the district for £25 per month. For further information contact your local sports facility. The Aspire card is transferable across all the WMDC Sport and Recreation Service sports facilities listed.
The Aspire Leisure Scheme has also been extended to the new sports facilities at Wakefield City High School and Freeston High School.
Both Freeston and City High School house new gym and sports hall facilities, with qualified coaching staff from the Sport & Recreation Unit to offer advice and assistance.
